McCoy Makes $27,000+ Impact for Central Florida Community Through Donated Technology
In May 2023, McCoy's IT Department began a months-long project to upgrade company computers at 15 branches and in all back-office departments. In the spirit of People Helping People, McCoy Federal Credit Union donated the computers that were being replaced to the Aeras Foundation, a local nonprofit that promotes digital equity in underserved communities - giving the gift of education, second chances, and the opportunity to break cycles of poverty.
The credit union maintained the highest level of security by removing each computer's hard drive before donating. The Aeras Foundation team then rehabbed each device to make them feel new again.
Overall, McCoy donated over 200 units, including all-in-one desktop computers and accessories. That is more than $27,000 worth of donated technology to help bridge the digital divide for the Central Florida community. A computer lab area was set up at two Boys & Girls Club locations - one in Taft and one in Apopka - with computers donated by McCoy.
